| Description | Specificity: Human VIL1/Villin. Epithelial cell-specific Ca2+-regulated actin-modifying protein thatmodulates the reorganization of microvillar actin filaments. Plays arole in the actin nucleation, actin filament bundle assembly, actinfilament capping and severing. Binds phosphatidylinositol4, 5-bisphosphate (PIP2) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA); binds LPA withhigher affinity than PIP2. Binding to LPA increases its phosphorylationby SRC and inhibits all actin-modifying activities. |
