| Description | The serotonin transporter (SERT) is a monoamine transporter, integral membrane protein that transports the neurotransmitter serotonin from synaptic spaces into presynaptic neurons. This transport of serotonin by the SERT protein terminates the action of serotonin and recycles it in a sodium-dependent manner. The histochemical antibody for serotonin (5HT) transporter is generated in a rabbit against a synthetic peptide sequence corresponding to amino acids 579-599 of rat 5HT transporter coupled to KLH.
