Description | This TGFBI antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 106-135 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human TGFBI. This gene encodes an RGD-containing protein that binds totype I, II and IV collagens. The RGD motif is found in manyextracellular matrix proteins modulating cell adhesion and servesas a ligand recognition sequence for several integrins. Thisprotein plays a role in cell-collagen interactions and may beinvolved in endochondrial bone formation in cartilage. The proteinis induced by transforming growth factor-beta and acts to inhibitcell adhesion. Mutations in this gene are associated with multipletypes of corneal dystrophy. |
