| Description | This antibody recognizes human Androgen Receptor protein. The other species was not tested. The androgen receptor belongs to the nuclear receptor subfamily 3 group C member 4 which is encoded by the Ar (alsoknown as Andr, Nr3c4, Tfm) gene. Androgen receptor (AR) is a hormone-activated transcription regulator that playsimportant roles in normal prostate development and function, as well as in malignant prostate transformation. The binding ofan androgenic hormone (testosterone or dihydrotestosterone) induces a conformational change in AR, resulting itsdissociation from heat shock proteins and subsequent translocation from the cytosol to nucleus, where it dimerizes andmediates either transcription activation or repression in a target gene |
