Description | Background Info: Detects ~190-220 kDa (alternative splice variants). No cross-reactivity against Shank2 or Shank3. Scientific Background: Shank proteins make up a family of scaffold proteins identified through their interaction with a variety of membrane and cytoplasmic proteins (3). Shank1 specifically might be relevant to human autism spectrum disorders, due to its differential role in specific cognitive processes, along with its importance for synapse structure and function in vivo (4). |
