Description | IL-6 is an immunoregulatory cytokine that activates a cell surface signaling assembly composed of IL6, IL6RA, and the shared signaling receptor gp130. [1] It belongs to the IL-6 superfamily. And It is secreted by T cells and macrophages to stimulate immune response. IL-6 is one of the most important mediators of fever and of the acute phase response. It is capable of crossing the blood brain barrier[2] and initiating synthesis of PGE2 in the hypothalamus, thereby changing the body's temperature setpoint. It also plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells Involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation.[3] |
Immunogen | Immunogen: A synthetic peptide (conjugated to KLH) corresponding to the region of mouse IL-6. |
