| Description | Kinase that can phosphorylate various inositol polyphosphate such as InsP4 or InsP3. Phosphorylates InsP4 at position 1 to form InsP5. This reaction is thought to have regulatory importance, since InsP4 is an inhibitor of plasma membrane Ca-activated Cl channels, while InsP5 is not. Also phosphorylates InsP3 on O-5 and O-6 to form InsP4, an essential molecule in the hexakisphosphate pathway. Also acts as an inositol polyphosphate phosphatase that dephosphorylate InsP4 and InsP4 to InsP3, and InsP5 to InsP4. May also act as an isomerase that interconverts the inositol tetraphosphate isomers InsP4 and InsP4 in the presence of ADP and magnesium.
