| Description | Specificity: SOX9 antibody detects endogenous levels of total SOX9. Description: SOX9 Plays an important role in the normal skeletal development. May regulate the expression of other genes involved in chondrogenesis by acting as a transcription factor for these genes. Defects in SOX9 are the cause of campomelic dysplasia (CMD1).Function: Transcriptional regulator (PubMed:24038782). Binds to the COL2A1 promoter and activates COL2A1 expression, as part of a complex with ZNF219 (By similarity). Plays a role in chondrocyte differentiation (By similarity). Important for normal skeletal development (PubMed:24038782).Subunit Structure: Interacts (via C-terminus) with ZNF219. |
