| Description | Recognizes human Glypican 6. Does not crossreact with recombinant human Glypican 2, 3 or 5. Glypican 6 (glypiated proteoglycan 6) belongs to the family of membrane heparin sulfate proteoglycans that are linked to the cell membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. The glucosaminoglycans (GAGs) attachment sites of glypican family proteins are localized close to the cell membrane in the C-terminal region. Glypicans are thought to function as low-affinity binding proteins that retain signaling molecules (cytokines, growth factors, proteases) at the cell surface.
