| Description | Anti-Connexin 43 pS368 antibody is directed against rat pS368 Connexin 43. Anti-Connexin 43 pS368 antibody was prepared from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography using phospho peptide coupled to agarose beads followed by solid phase adsorption(s) against non-phospho peptide and non-specific peptide to remove any unwanted reactivities. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum. This antibody is specific for phosphorylated Connexin 43. Minimal reactivity occurs against non-phosphorylated Connexin 43. Reactivity is completely blocked by treatment with lambda-phosphatase. Reactivity against Connexin 43 occurs from rat sources. However, reactivity is also expected against bovine, canine, chicken, guinea pig, human, mouse and zebra fish sources. Anti-Connexin 43 pS368 Antibody detects pS368 Connexin which is thought to play a key role in development and may also be involved in epilepsy. Connexin 43 antibody recognizes Connexin43 which forms gap-junctional channels and regulates the permeability of these gap junctions to small organic molecules. Permeability of connexin43 is known to be regulated by phosphorylation at Ser368 by protein kinase C. Phosphorylation of Ser368 by PKC induces a conformational change of connexin 43 that results in a decrease in gap junction permeability.
