New Recombinant Guinea Pig RBPMS Antibody

A Next-Generation Standard for Retinal Research

The identification and quantification of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) is central to modern retinal and neuroscience research. In recent years, RBPMS (RNA Binding Protein with Multiple Splicing) has emerged as the gold-standard molecular marker for RGCs, enabling highly specific and reproducible labelling across multiple experimental models

Building on this foundation, we have introduced a new recombinant guinea pig RBPMS antibody (Cat.RBPMS) a next-generation solution designed to deliver long-term reproducibility, animal-free production, and uninterrupted supply while preserving the trusted performance of earlier RBPMS antibodies.

Recombinant Guinea Pig RBPMS Antibody (Clone OTI3B7-GP)

Why RBPMS Is the Marker of Choice for Retinal Ganglion Cells?

RBPMS is a cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein selectively expressed in retinal ganglion cells, making it uniquely suited for RGC identification. Over the past decade, RBPMS antibodies have become the most widely cited tools for retinal structure, degeneration, and regeneration studies.
The original guinea pig RBPMS antibody (previously Cat. RBPMS) was a top-selling and highly cited reagent, widely adopted due to its strong specificity and clear staining patterns in retinal tissue
However, like many traditional polyclonal antibodies, it eventually faced supply limitations.

The newly released recombinant guinea pig RBPMS antibody preserves all the features researchers rely on while eliminating the inherent limitations of polyclonal production.

Recombinant Guinea Pig RBPMS Antibody

(Clone OTI3B7-GP)

Highly Specific Marker for Retinal Ganglion Cells (RGCs)

The Recombinant Guinea Pig RBPMS Antibody is a high-quality, research-grade antibody developed for the specific detection of RBPMS (RNA Binding Protein with Multiple Splicing). RBPMS is a well-established and highly selective marker for retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), widely used in retinal, ophthalmology, and neuroscience research.

This antibody is produced as a recombinant chimeric antibody, combining the proven antigen-binding regions of clone OTI3B7 with guinea pig IgG constant regions, enabling enhanced multiplexing flexibility and excellent compatibility with standard anti-guinea pig secondary antibodies.

Scientific Background

RBPMS, also known as HERMES, is a member of the RNA Recognition Motif (RRM) family of RNA-binding proteins. It contains a single RRM domain and exists as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms. RBPMS is believed to participate in RNA-related cellular processes, including transcriptional and translational regulation.

RNA-binding proteins specifically expressed in retinal ganglion cells have been identified as robust and reliable RGC markers. Multiple studies have demonstrated that RBPMS antibodies exclusively label RGCs across several mammalian species, making RBPMS one of the most trusted markers for retinal research.
