| Description | The ''genetical germ number``(precisely the ''number of gene copies``) in this test kit is being determined with the help of a PCR amplification of a species specific fragment of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii(using the bacterial genes for ribosomal RNA). The increase of the PCR product's amount during the test run is made visibly by the socalled 5' exonuclease method with a fluorescence probe (green). The amount of fluorescence is compared to Fp DNA standards of known copy number of the same run. The aparatus then calculates a calibration curve and delineates the copy number of a sample from its place on the calibration curve. The unit of the measurement is ''KBE-equivalent per gram of stool probe``. Many bacteries have several copies of rRNA genes, which is true for Fp also and which is of advantage for the sensitivity of the test (see chapter 11. Result Interpretation). An additional inner control PCR is being run within each sample as control for the general amplifiability with a second fluorescence colour (yellow). (Scientific method and text by Dr. M.
