Product Name | Recombinant human SOD1/Cu-Zn SOD protein |
Description | Domain: 1-154aa. Recombinant SOD1 was expressed in E. coli and purified by conventional chromatography techniques. MW: 15.9 kDa (154aa) confirmed by MALDI-TOF. Purity > 95% by SDS-PAGE. Superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of three isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. The encoded protein neutralizes supercharged oxygen molecules, which can damage cells if their levels are not controlled. Mutations in SOD1 cause a form of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) |
