Circulating levels of are normally low and only rise after stimulation by agents such as those produced by inflammation, infection or microbial endotoxins. IL-1 possesses a wide variety of biological activities and exerts its effects by binding to specific cell surface receptors. RANDOX recombinant IL-1-chain comprises a 159 amino acid fragment (113-271) corresponding to the mature IL-1 chain and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
