Product Name | Fatty Acid Binding Protein (Muscle and Heart) (MH-FABP) |
Description | Purity >95% by SDS-PAGE. Fatty acid binding protein is one of a group of low-molecular weight proteins involved in the solubilization and transport of fatty acids. The release of cytoplasmic heart fatty acid binding protein (H-FABP) into the plasma of cardiac patients is used as a marker of cardiac damage. In 18 out of 22 patients with established AMI the plasma FABP level was at or above the threshold level in blood-samples taken within 3.5 hours after the first onset of symptoms of AMI, which compares very favourably with more established markers such as CK-MB. RANDOX recombinant FABP comprises a 133 amino acid fragment (1-133) corresponding to the mature FABP protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag. This product is for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic use. |
