| Immunogen | Alpha-1 orosomucoid is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 41,000. It is an acute phase protein with a carbohydrate content of 42%. The mean concentration of this protein in serum is 900 µ g/ml. Concentrations are elevated in cases of tissue damage, inflammation, oestrogen administration and the presence of myeloma. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure. |
