Description | anti-mouse CD44 monoclonal antibody reacts with all isoforms of CD44 (also known as Pgp, Ly-24) as well as both Ly- 24.1 and Ly-24.2 1,4. CD44 is a polymorphic glycoprotein, which is broadly distributed on hematopoietic cells and a variety of nonhematopoietic cells 1,2. It is a cell adhesion receptor and its pri- mary ligand is hyaluronan This antibody is suitable for use in flow cytometry. This clone is also reported to be suitable for immunoprecipitation, detection of soluble CD44 with ELISA, IHC of frozen sections and paraffin sections (2.5- 10ug/ml), and complement depletion 1,2,3 Target Information: The protein encoded by this gene is a cell-surface glycoprotein involved in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion and migration. It is a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and can also interact with other ligands, such as osteopontin, collagens, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). This protein participates in a wide variety of cellular functions including lymphocyte activation, recirculation and homing, hematopoiesis, and tumor metastasis. Transcripts for this gene undergo complex alternative splicing that results in many functionally distinct isoforms, however, the full length nature of some of these variants has not been determined. Alternative splicing is the basis for the structural and functional diversity of this protein, and may be related to tumor metastasis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. |
